Harassment intercaste marriage

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 16 January 2025 This query is : Resolved
My name is sushmita (38 years).
I need lawyers advice and help.
17 years ago I got married in intercaste with permission of my parents.
My parents were present in the marriage. They did all the rituals happily in the marriage.
Everything was going happy.
But within a month my parents and my brother and sister started behaving weird with me.
They started boycotting me from family functions, meeting relatives.
Whenever I used to visit them they started abusing me as they were not happy with this intercaste marriage.
My father passed away 5 years back.
Now my father's property is encroached by my brother and sister.
They have made my life miserable.
I can't tolerate this torture

What is the relief are you looking for by posting this information here.
You are entitled for a legitimate share in your deceased father's property hence you can file a suit for partition and claim your rightful share in it.
You cannot force them to be affectionate with you which is their personal rights.

You have stated your story but not asked about your problem which you are requesting. Your parents and siblings are boycotting but not others. If your father had property, you have an equal share with other legal heirs of your father.
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 16 January 2025
Your questions are based on imaginary concept of problems.
You may have to follow the procedures of law only when you are in legal trouble.
The act does the following:
Prevents social boycotts of people and their families
Makes it illegal to gather to discuss social boycotts
Punishes those who aid or abet social boycotts
Makes social boycotts void and of no effect
Punishes Caste Panchayats that impose social boycotts.
You may see if your case falls within the above said clauses.

Fact posted vis-a-vis query are vague.
It is advisable to contact, consult and engage a local prudent lawyer for proper appreciation of facts, professional advise and necessary proceeding.

What are the suggestions as to remedies you are seeking?
After almost two decades of married life with supporting husband and in-laws, the alleged boycott need not be any consequence.
As to property, you are the legal heirs to the parents and entitled to inherit the property, if any, left interstate after their lifetime.
