The School authorities have asked us to change the school of our children by next financial year as we are residing 25 Kms far from the school. However I would like to mention a few points: 1. At the time of admission we were residing within 2Km range of the school till my elder daughter reached class IV and younger one reached in class I. 2.Two years back we shifted to our own house which is 25 Kms from school 3. we are managing on our own with no problem either to the children or to the school. 4. Kindly let me know if there is any rule / norms which restricts a child's education in a school that is beyond 8-10 Kms from her residence after she has been studying there for the last 8 years 5. Can the school challenge the continuity of education on the above basis.

Legally the School can not dictate such Terms. But the Management could Find Un necessary methods to disturb the Children.Instead of rubbing them Explain them with necessary Assurances.Still they Insist seek other options like near by school. No Doubt you would succeed Legally but the Peacefulness of your children may be affected in School.Think and Decide.

The school has no authority to forcefully shift a student on this ground. This is squarely illegal. If the school is govt aided then file case in high court else civil court has jurisdiction to pass injunction.
However do not explore the legal recourse until and unless the school issues TC.

The school authority has no rights to ask you to shift your child to some other school nearby your residence. There are schools which ferry children/students over a distance of even60 to 70 kms one way a day. Do not budge to any pressure, in the event of any excesses by school authorities, you may take recourse to legal action.
