Legally a commercial user cannot use a domestic gas cylinder for his business, since, the government subsidizes domestic gas whereas there is no subsidy on commercial gas users. In view of this the Civil supplies and other related deptts can raid and seize the domestic cylinder being used for commercial purposes, further they can levy penalty and cancel the connection.

The gas cylinders are properties owned by Petroleum Corporation and the same are entrusted to the customer against payment of security. It is not only unlawful to use domestic LPG cylinder for commercial purposes but also a breach of the terms of the agreement with the Petroleum Company through the Gas Agency.

Yes. A hotel owner can get a commercial gas cylinder in his name by making application to the concerned gas agency. You can get knowledge about the same either from the concerned gas service or from any of the offices of the Petroleum Corporations or from the websites thereof.
