How to get death certificate

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 05 February 2021 This query is : Resolved
My uncle expired one week ago in Navi Mumbai in a hospital. Burial was done at Mumbai. Where should I go to collect the death certificate? Should it be available at NMMC or BMC?

What are the documents that will be required to collect the death certificate?
I have the death certificate provided by the hospital as well as the burial certificate.

While enclosing the Doctor's certificate, you may apply in your corporation concerned. You can submit it online also.

Municipal authority of the place where death took place is competent.

I have been told by NMMC to get a letter from the BMC stating that the final rites took place there. BMC has asked for an application to provide such a letter that I have given them. Now I need to get this letter made from them.

You may have to register the death within the jurisdiction where the burial or cremation took place. If it falls in BMC, then the cremation ground authorities would send the report to BMC directly, after which you may have to apply with proper details to BMC authorities requesting the death certificate of the deceased.
