How to withdraw a passport application

Guest (Querist) 22 February 2012 This query is : Resolved
I have applied for my father and mother passport in April 2010 to passport office Jaipur.

My mother's passport was issued but not for my father till now.

Passport office asked for birth certificate or school certificate with birth-date. As my father was born in year 1951, he didn't have birth certificate but somehow we managed to get his school certificate.

We found out that school certificate has different birth date instead of what we knew. But we had no other option except to submit school certificate to passport office.

Now passport office has asked for explanation about difference in date of birth.

As my family have moved to another state, I want to withdraw this passport application and apply again.

Can please tell me how to withdraw passport application?

You are required to give the explanation sought by Pass Port Office. If the school birth certificate is based on the records of the school when your father was admitted, you can tell the fact that the school birth certificate has a different date of birth to that of actual. First of all you should not have submitted the school certificate when it contains a different date. PP Office requires the proof of date of birth mentioned in the application. What purpose did it serve when you submitted a birth certificate with a different date. You admit your mistake and seek the guidance from the Pass Port Authority. If your father is having some other proof supporting the date of mentioned in the application, you may submit the same. Withdrawing the application and resubmitting the same from some where else for whatever reasons, will not solve your problem.

There is no such provision to withdraw your application rather you shall have to face the questionnaire of passport department and can get corrected the columns as per available SLC.

Approach the Passport office for guidance regarding the steps to be taken to rectify the difference in date of birth.

I feel, the correction can be done by publisshing in the official gazette in the state government and to swear an affidavit in support of the same stating that the correct date of birth is that which recorded in the birth certificate.

There is no provision to withdraw the application for passport. As advised above by the learned expert Mr.S. Ganesan, this will get rejected automatically on non-compliance of necessary formalities.
