Inherited property from grand father. how is it distributed?

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 17 November 2020 This query is : Resolved
We are 2 brother and 2 sisters. The distribution of all properties are defined in a will prepared by our father. But my question is, will inherited property that my father inherited from my grandfather be distributed based on the will or do they have a different clause?
Advocate Bhartesh goyal (Expert) 17 November 2020
If the property inherited by your father from your grand father was self acquired property of your grand father then your father had right to execute will and could distribute the property as per his wish.

Isaac Gabriel (Expert) 17 November 2020
If there is no legal heirs except your father, the will is a right one since the property devolved on your father after your grandfather

Hello,

Your father is competent to execute will with respect to the properties received from your grandfather. He can distribute the property as per his wishes.

Agree with the expert Advocate Bhartesh goyal.

Thank you all. I came across multiple articles like https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/property/inherited-property-cant-be-given-away-by-will/articleshow/1717522.cms and they seem to give a different opinion on the inherited property. Could you please advice if what is mentioned in these articles is incorrect?
P. Venu (Expert) 17 November 2020
The opinion referred is too sketchy to be relied upon. The real distinction is between self-acquired property and ancestral property.
Rajendra K Goyal (Expert) 18 November 2020
Ancestral property (Ancestral property is defined as one that is inherited up to four generations of male lineage and should have remained undivided throughout this period. For descendants, be it a daughter or son, an equal share in such a property accrues by birth itself.) can not be bequeathed fully as others have right from birth.
