Sirs, D
1. Do the earnings of medicolegal experts in form of consultation fees from clients attract taxes. Do they have to file IT returns.
2. Do the experts have to register an web based online consultation work as a firm or can they be called as 'self employed'.

1) If you have earned any income by any way, that is taxable if the total earnings from all sources come within the taxable range of income.
2) Your question seems to be merely of an academic nature, where you have not given the real problem along with any background of your query. However, any major source of usual income is the deciding factor. If the Expert is not employed anywhere and his consultancy business is the sole source of his income, may or may not he register for web based consultancy, he is a self employed person.
