The documents that requires to be registered compulsorily are governed under Section 17 of the Indian Registration Act. Such of the documents alone are to be reistered. In respect of other agreements/documents , the registration is only optional. Therefore, it has to be seen from the contents of the agreemnt as to whether the collaboration agreemnt is to be compulsorily registered in law. From the above, it is clarified that registration is not compulsory to all the agreements unless it falls under the above section of the Regitsration Act and the unregsistered sgreemnt is also valid agreemnt/contract between the parties.

Any written agreement, executed by free will and for a legal purpose, wherein an offer and acceptance is present is a Contract.
Registrations is secondary. Contract can be either registered or unregistered, as long as the parties are abiding by it, it is enforceable against each other.
Defiect in stamp duty or registration can be made good by paying penalty during evidence. But registration doesnot determine the validity of a contract.
