Law against cutting of a tree

Hi

There was this beautiful mango tree in front of my house at the opposite side of the street. My neighbour in front has got that cut down yesterday. Isn't it unlawful?

What can be done?

When the tree is cut down, the tree is gone.

Was neighbour the owner of the tree.

he might have taken requisite permissions.

Thanks for the feedback. I found out that they got the requisite permission stating that tree was blocking parking space. though I'm told that they bribed for it. Anyways like you said when the tree is cut down, the tree is gone. Thanks again for your words.
