Dear Eminent,
I am practicing in Law since 13 years.
A Co-opperative credit society has offered me work as recovery officer on remuneration basis
Now my query is whether I can accept the offer and do the work as an advocate under the provisions of Advocate Act

Plz note that I am a member of Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa

Waiting for your valuable responce

Thanks & Regards.

Hi
Following are the options that are available to you depending on the terms of your appointment with co-operative society.

a) In case you are employed as a full time employee then you need to inform Bar council of Maharashtra and Goa and surrender your bar council license.

b) If you are hired as a full time advocate to represent the company on its legal matters and paid monthly remuneration, then you do not need to surrender your bar council license.

c) If you are hired as a legal advisor on retainership basis(which is not an employment), then you can continue as a bar council member.

Dear learned colelague

Greetings.

You should not be in the employment rolls of Co-op.society.

Ask the Society to give you designation of Legal adviser and you be paid monthly retainer fee and expenses.

If you need personal guidance, please do telephone me.

If you go in for regular and official employment, you have to suspend your Bar Council regn. till the term of employment.

sincerely
yours in legal fraternity

Having such a long experience what is your opinion please?

Thanks for kind response to all the learned seniors.

The society wants me to head it's recovery team.
for the purpose I would have to obtain the powers of Sec. 156 of the Act.

However I am interesting in law profession as an Advocate only.

Can I do both the things. wiz. The legal practice as an Advocate and as an recovery officer

By asking such basic question, you are raising a fundamental doubt about your understanding of the issue and also the 13 long years of standing in the bar!
