Yes, unless customary divorce is allowed by your caste/tribe , decree of divorce by court of law is the only mode of divorce.

If customs of the particular tribe permits, it is okay, but to avoid future problems always better to obtain court divorce. This custom is prevalent in some tribes who are very backward. Nowadays the youth will not accept such customs and may create problems in future.

always better to obtain divorce from family court . such divorces would not be valid unless you are able to prove such a custom

Mere stamp paper writing cannot act as completion of legal formalities or the judgment of the court necessary for a legal divorce.

A decree of divorce dissolving the marriage held between husband and wife by a court of law will be the only valid solution, a divorce deed on a stamp paper will not at all be valid and no legality can be claimed in the future based on such deed.

Divorce deed on stamp paper is valid if the custom of the tribe allows them.
For example, in Santhal community customary divorce written even on a piece of paper is very much permissible.

must prove customary divorce valid u/s 29 of H.M.Act.
As writing can be obtained under force/ pressure, and many complains, To avoid it, Bombay High Court directed, all divorce thru court only.
