Dear Sir,
We are looking for Legal Heir certificate, My father passed away last year & is survived by my mother, 2 daugthers(married) and 2 sons married.
He had his ration card in Vizag but he came to chennai to stay with us in chennai and passed away in chennai. Even the death certificate has chennai address but the revenue official in chennai said as ration card has vizag address, we have to approach vizag officials.
Pls advise whom should we approach and what is correct procedure to obtain ASAP.

You have to approach the Tehasildar's office under which your normal residence in Vizag falls.
You have to attach the Original death certificate (you must have got several copies of original death certificate) and also attach an attested copy of the ration card where your father's name finds a mention.
You have to fill up necessary application form and submit.
The Revenue officials will visit your residence at Vizag and make enquiries with you and also with the neighbours.
After making such enquiry, they will issue with a Legal Heir Certificate.

Many Thanks Sir, but would like to mention that no one is staying there in Vizag currently. In this scenario what can be done?

Someone of your family members (preferably one legal heir) should visit your place and stay there. After making the application, request the Officials (preferably the Revenue inspector) in the office of the Tehasildar to make the visit / enquiry quickly as you have to go to Chennai.
They will do the job quickly.
