iam working in a public ltd company.we have four units in the food sector.now we have inducted 100-120 workers in various units to step up production, expansion and diversification processes.we are keeping separate registers for permanent staff of the units as well as casual and temporary registers for unskilled workers.covering all workers under esi &pf will be financially burdensome to the company since many of them are migrant or contract workers and they have to be registered under migrant workers act with consequent liabilities.so what is the best option available to the company in bypassing statutory requirements?can the workers be enrolled in group insurance schemes?are such schemes substitute for esi?are temporary workers under contract required to be enrolled under pf scheme?how can we best manage the situation without incurring much liabilities?i hope you follow me?

we want a clear answer because many workers go and join elsewhere after say couple of weeks.then we bring other workers who sometime remain for six months or discontinue after some days.this constantly changing situation is creating difficulties to update esi/pf/and other statutory requirements.hoe best can we cope up the situation.permenant workers are covered by pf and esi up to statutory level of wages(up to 15,000/)for esi)....

AS my advise is you have to follow the ESI act , it may be headache now but it helpful for all employee
According to your statement, you also under the employee category , so you have try to support and stand with them,

dear shankar.
received your reply.personally speaking my salary is beyond esi coverage.am enrolled in epf, being a permenanr staff occupying managerial position.but in kerala esi&pf people are agressive and very toothfull.sudden enrollment of so many wokers around 2oo from bihar and orissa in to esi pf will affect the company.they will have to be treated as permenant employees and will have to be given annual wage increase,bonus...u understand my dilemma?

NO NO.THERE ARE PERMANANT STAFF IN THE ACCOUNTS ,FINANCE LEGAL ADMIN AND TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT WHO ARE SELECTED DIRECTLY BY INTERVIEW....THE 200+OR SO INDUCTED ANRE FOR MANUAL PURPOSES LIKE LOADING UNLOADING SECURITY AND FOR OTHER WORKS...STAFF ARE COVERED FROM THE VERY BEGINING...BUT DURING ESI/PF INSPECTION THEY DO PHYSICAL VERIFICATION AND INSPECTION OF REGISTERES..THEN IF THE VERIFY SALARY REGISTER OR ATTENDENCE REGISTER NO DISTINCTION CAN BE MADE BETWEEN PERMENANT AND CASUAL OR TEMPORARY FOR STATUTORY COVERAGES...THAT WILL CREATE PROBLEM..
