Lost deed papers

(Querist) 30 October 2012 This query is : Resolved
Dear Sir/Madam
My grandfather purchased a land in 1956.He has now lost those papers and is not retaining any detail of that. How we can get that paper back?
Later In 2011 he made a WILL in which he distributed his land to my father and uncle, but the will is not registered.Whether this WILL be considered or not? Whether one can challenge it or not?
Please guide me.

The certified copy of land documents can be got obtained from the office of Registrar of your area subject to having some clue. If the property is situated within municipal area then its clue can also be obtained from municipality.

So far validity of unregistered will is concerned, it is made clear that there is no need to get registration of will as this is not mandatory, however, it shall be better to get the same probated if there seems any coming dispute qua the property involved under the will. The legal right of the legal heirs and all other affected persons by way of the alleged will cannot be restricted.

The first task before the querist is to bend his energies to secure the legal papers as properly suggested by Ld. Raj Kumar Makkad.
To add further, an unregistered will is open and prone to challenge.
