Lost of passport

i have lost the passport very first time...and i want to know that how to issue my duplicate passport.and will i get a new passport or duplicate passport to be issued..??

File a fir in concerning police station for the lost passport ; then move to passport offic for re-issue.

File FIR, with AFFIDAVIT , that you lost ur Passport, and apply to Passport authorities to issue you a Duplicate Passport.
