Maintenance and child custody

(Querist) 08 October 2018 This query is : Resolved
Few days before getting the final verdict paper in hand, wife filed a petition in court stating that she want 10k as maintenance and she cannot keep her child custody.

Earlier it was decided that husband will pay 10k for child and 5k to wife for rent. Wife is a govt employee.

How many petitions can be filed by either party at this stage of case?
Being the child is of 7-8 years, who will take the custody of the child? The father is out of the country due to work for about 300 days in an year.

Child custody seems to be with mother for which she's paid monthly maintenance for child R10k and rent amount R5k.
This amount seems insufficient for the wife to continue the child custody with her.
In such circumstances if father who is stationed ouside India for 300days in a year, and cannot afford to keep the minor child with him outside India, should compromise and workout extra amount for child care and maintenance that the mother can be given. The father has reasonably better financial status as it seems from the facts of the case so he has to work out the issue amicably with the mother without going to court for such a small issue.
