Dear All,
I stay on rent in a Co-operative Housing Society as a tenant since 2007 (ie for more than 4 years).
Facts of the case -
1) I am the only tenant in the whole society and all the other flats are owner occupied.
2) The society frowns upon tenants and have harassed me since a long time (I understand that the previous tenants had also left due to society's harassment).
3) Harassment includes misbehaviour with family, visitors etc...
Ques) Recently my passport expired and the police requires the society letter (stating that I am staying since 2007). The society has orally refused to provide such a letter. They are not responding to my request letters written to them. Please let me know
a) how should I tackle the Society and what action can be taken against them? What the society is doing is just for harassment purposes.
b) Any ideas how to complete the police verification? (2 witness signatures and physical verification has already been done)

send Regd Letter to Society+ spped post with copy to Asst Registrar, to issue you a letter as required.

You can call the police in the society premises to personally seen and report accordingly. Police can also seek the written information from society. You can also personally apprise the situation to the concerned police personnel so that appropriate dealing may be made.
