Name change in ssc - need to apply passport

(Querist) 17 January 2012 This query is : Resolved
Dear All,

I have passed out SSC IN 1997 and my name was wrongly written in my SSC certificate and the same was rejected for Passport application.

SSC board people requesting a letter from our School but the school in which i have studied was closed 8 years back.

SSC officials are not advising any other alternative.

Kindly guide me a way to change to my name and thereby i can apply for Passport.

Thanks,
Krishna Chaitanya.

You passed SSC in 1997 and the certificate reflected wrong name. Where were you all these years and how did you obtain admission for further studies??

Any ways, if the letter from the school is not possible, then inform the SSC board accordingly and ask for the alternative.

Other option available to you is to rectify the error in your name by publlishing in the official gazette of the state government and and affidavit to confirm the contents of the gazette.

First state what is your correct name.

Also state what is written in your SSC.

Indicate what name did you fill up in the Passport form.

Is Chaitanya your surname or it is your father's name??

if it is your father's name then your father shall rectify his name by publishing in the official gazette and then you.
thereafter make an affidavit to that effect to submit to the passport authority.

The minor descripency you indicated is not a big problem. I think passport officials can also entertain it subject to filing of your affidavit or by getting it published in the Gazette of State to the effect that both these names are of same and one person.

You can change your name by published in the gazette of state and another way is file application in civil court , produce all necessary evidences . After passing of court order Your name will be change by S.S.C. Board.

It is not a change of name so to give in a state Gazzette but a rectification required for typographical mistake. On filing affidavit to Passport Authority may solve the problem.
Krishsna (Querist) 18 January 2012
Dear all,

Thanks for your kind replies.
As you said, it is just a rectification of typographical mistake and not the name change.

Which option is better to approach passport authorities and what is the procedure for that option:

Option 1: Filing affidavit with Passport authority - What is the format?

Option 2: Publishing the same in State official Gazette - I belong to Andhra Pradesh. So where shall i approach?

Option 3: Applying to civil court - Where shall i approach?

Kindly help me.
Thanks

You cannot change SSC board Certificate name.
Affidavit & Govt Gazette is enough for future name Records.
Krishsna (Querist) 24 January 2012
Dear Sir,

Can you suggest me the format and procedure for same? Your kind suggestions are very helpful to me.. Thanks
