Dear Sir/Madam, I am a group A central government servant. I applied for state PSC exam last year without intimating my department. Now I have cleared its preliminary and mains and have to appear in its interview in coming months. Now the state PSC is asking for NOC or mere intimations which I gave to my department. Hence I request the experts out here to kindly advise me as to how big or small trouble I am going to invite for myself if I Intimate my department at this belated stage about my appearances in state PSC exam during last one year. Is it a serious violation of conduct rules or just a misdemeanor, for I am ready to take some calculated risk for the sake of hard work I have put in for the preparation of this exam and when its outcome is well within my reach ? Kindly advise. Thanks

A minor penalty case, if you intimate voluntarily with regret for forgetting to intimate. There would be 50:50 chance for NOC, depending upon the sole discretion of the competent authority.
Can be a major penalty case, if you don't intimate at all if the authorities come to know somehow or the other through some other source. There would be no chance at all for NOC in that case.

Thanks a lot Shri P.S. Dhingra ji.Only one thing I would like to get clarified further that in a worst case scenario, can my department proceed with a case of suppression of material facts against me for non intimation of my appearances in state PSC exam previously?

Of course possibility cannot be overruled, but according to me the irregularity is not of such a grave nature that the charge may be aggravated to such an extent.
