Non payment of loan

Hi,
I have borrowed 2 loans from HDFC in 2010 & paid the EMI's on time..thereafter my financial condition was not stable & i have not paid & EMI's (Mode of payment is ECS) few days before i received a call from delhi (stating himself from delhi police) that there is a NBW against me....in-case i did not settle it through my lawyer they will cancel my passport & call me to India (currently i am out of India).
For your information i did not received any notice etc in this matter as i have left that accommodation.
My concern is:
1. Do police involves in such cases?
2. Is it possible to cancel the passport & call the person back to India?
3. I have paid some initial amount to the bank..but now they want lumpsum amount to settle the case..what is the easiest way to get rid of it.

1. No unless W/A is issued in connection with a cheque bouncing case.

3. Settle the dispute with a certain sum of money .
