Dear All,
Greetings! Hope all are in good health.
I am writing to know about opening a foundation for helping poor people in terms of free education and medical services. We are a team of 3 people and want to establish a foundation in Uttarakhand (near Almora Dist.) for the mentioned cause. I have some questions as mentioned below:-
1. How to open a foundation? What are the legal formalities? What is the website or particular process to get it done?
2. If possible, how to get free/concessional land in above mentioned area to initiate this noble work?
3. Do we have to go Dehradun (capital of UK) or it can be done with in Almora District ?
4. Any other suggestions if you want to give us.
Kindly guide me on above concerns and I will be thankful to you.
Thanks for reading my message.
With best regards
Ishwar Dutt

Reply:
You can form a NGO. NGO can be registered as Society. Obtain model bylaws etc. and proceed. Get it registered with the Registrar of societies. Search net for details.

All depend on the procedure in the state. Society would be registered at district level.

You have to create a Foundation/NGO under Societies Registration Act, 1860 (amended in the year 2001) at least with 7 members (President/Chairman, Vice-president/V.C., Secretary, Joint Sec., Treasurer, and two executive members) and you have to prepare bylaws with your aims and objects. It shall be registered before the Registrar of Societies of Almora. There are no fee concessions. Suggestion: You shall renew your NGO every year and get the funds audited by a CA. Search google for NGO. You will find.

It is a procedural query where you will have to contact and consult various authorities and form a society under the provisions of Societies Registration Act, 1860.

Whether state (UK) government has such a policy to provide land for such benevolent purposes ?
Consult and engage local professionals for the noble cause.

Agree that this is a procedural query, it is better to have complete study regarding all aspects of the proposal. take help of RTI to know whether any policy from State Government can provide free / concessionaire land for this Nobel cause.
