NGO should be in form of a Trust or Society or Section 25 Company. Once these are registered with the concerned authority, you can file an application to the Director Of Income Tax (EXEMPTION) in Form 10G. The case will be examined a certificate will be given to you, which should be mentioned in all your bills. The payer to you i.e. Donor will get 50% taxs emption.

You may have to register under 12AA also by filing Form 10A.

Dear Ankit,
Go through the "SHARE FILE" section and download the file - NGO Registration.
I think it will be useful for you.
