It shall be better to obtain search report from a local lawyer who shall not only search the registrar office but record of the court and banks whether the property is fit or not.

Can not you locate your Nana's house?
Can not you know about heirs' of your nana?
His sons, daughter, mother and widow or his grand children.

Obtain Kutumb(family register) register from village secretary.Ancestral houses do not have title deeds.

Unless it was a house bought by a sale deed,no search at registry shall be of any use.And unless there was any dispute with respect to this house , search in court shall be futile.

Searches about charge and encumbrance are made by buyers while buying a property .I think that is not your purpose.
