Respected sir,
My passport was issued from Patna office of Bihar in 1999. I am living at Jharkhand, which was Bihar then. Now it has been expired. There is no change of address. From where(Bihar i.e. Patna Office or Jharkhand i.e. Ranchi office) it will get renewed? what is the procedure of renewal? Thanks to all.

Ranchi Office.

Same form shall be filled which was filled by you earlier and shall be got deposited with Ranchi Office with requisite fee. Police verification shall also take place.

Reissue means an application for another passport in lieu of an existing one which has either expired or is about to expire. An applicant may apply for a new passport in lieu of an expired/ about to expire passport upto 3 years after and 1 year before the expiry of the Passport. Re-issue of passport should not be mistaken for renewal of passport. Renewal of passport means that a passport which was originally issued for a short validity of one to five years - under certain emergency conditions on the part of the applicant - is now required to be extended to its full validity of ten years from the date of issue of the passport.

Few documents need to be submitted for reissue of passport. Original old passport with self-attested photocopy of its first and last four pages, including ECR/ECNR page will be submitted. In case of old passport being issued when applicant was a minor or did not have the ECNR stamp, he or she needs to provide attested copy of matriculation or degree certificate.

Proof of address of applicant will be also be needed to be submitted in case of he or she has changed the address mentioned on the old address. Other required documents are; telephone bill or gas bill, electricity or ration card, spouse or parentâ€™s passport copy in addition of three recent passport size photographs in color displaying full frontal view of the face.

One needs to submit the application form for reissue of passport. The application form is same as the one required for a new passport. Application from can be obtained from any passport service office or center or even post office or else it can be downloaded from official passport website.

Thereafter, applicant needs to deposit the required fee which is; for adult (36 page) â€“ Rs. 1000, passport for Adult (60 pages) â€“ Rs. 1500 and passport for a minor â€“ Rs. 600. Also, additional fee might need to be deposited for police clearance certificate or ECNR.

Once application form is completed it needs to be submitted at passport offices or speed post centers or district passport cells or collectorâ€™s office/DSPâ€™s office with supporting documents. Applicants can check the status of their applications online by providing file reference number at official government passport site.

You will have to file an application for renewal to the office from which office it is issued.

RENEWAL MEANS AGAIN A FRESH PASSPORT FROM WHERE U LIVE. PLS SURRENDER U YOUR OLD/EXPIRED/BEFORE EXPIRED PASSPORT WITH NEW ADDRESS ALONG WITH POLICE STATION DETAILS ALONG WITH PP FORMS IF U RESIDE LESS THAN ONE YEAR IN ONE PLACE FOR THAT ALSO U SHOULD GIVE SET OF PP FORMS.
