(Querist) 15 September 2011 This query is : Resolved
Dear sirs,

I want to know what should be the policy of a company if it requires its employees work on public holidays which are not national holidays in Maharashtra and Tanilnadu.Because s & E act is not speaking about it.

Mr. Sethi co-operation is enthusing you to use us commercially for a company.

Singh Sir i did not get you.

i mean we do not want to answer queries from commercial establishments as they should not look towards a free service like ours because they can afford to have opinions on these topics from a professional.
yesterday before i could see your query Mr. Sethi had replied, therefore i did not interrupt.

Dear Surya Prabha,

For deploying your employees on public holidays, other than on national holidays, you will have to compensate them either with a compensatory off or by grant of appropriate amount in the shape of over time allowance (OTA) in addition to their due salary/wages.

In case you feel the need of calling the employees on duty on any national holiday, you will have to pay compulsorily double the rate of OTA (NOT compensatory off). That will also be in addition to their due salary/wages.
