I am planning to buy a property which is in perpetual lease for 99 years. I would get the possesion in 2014. I want to know are there any hinderances / drawback to lease / sell it after i get the posession and agreement is done in my name

Instead of perpetual lease for 99 years, you should execute and register the sale deed. Since stamp duty is same in both case.

Because the property is already in lease, you cannot purchase and execute sale-deed rather can become its sub-lessee but the with the permission of the original owner of the property.
