Police verification

Hi,

Me and my family have been living in a flat for more than 25 years and the owner is also not here .We do not have any rent agreement.
My First question is

1. Is there a need for Police Verification.

2. If there is a need how do i get it done.

3. Is there anyway i can take the house on my name.

Can you please help me.

Pramod when u r living in a flat for more than 25 years then u must know about the owner or his heirs.
If u want the property to be in ur name u must establish ur right.

you dont have any legal titile to the property . you are not the owner nor the tenant .

in case society wants police verification done you have to comply as you are not the owner of flat . all socieites in mumbai have been directed to get police verification done of flats which are in posession of third parties or wherein leave and license agreement has been entered into

No, the title of the house would remain with the owner of the property till perpetuity unless he has transferred it to someone.

In nutshell, I can say, there is no such provision in law that the ownership of a house be claimed to be transferred free of cost merely on the basis of your long period of tenancy in the house, which seems to be your intention, as revealed from your question.
