Private teaching

(Querist) 21 August 2011 This query is : Resolved
Dear Members,

A doctor applies and gets a license before starting his private practice from municipality. Is the same rules are applicable to person who wishes to do private teaching houses or tutorial classes on chargeable basis?
Guest (Expert) 21 August 2011
if the private institution is registered or having the banner of a big institution then it requires the basic norms of the registration .

There is no such license is required for a starting a private tuition.

But, he has to pay the Income tax if his income is Rs.50000 p.m.

Municipality license may be attracted in the case whose absence may be objectionable. But practically we see many objectionable things going smoothly, unnoticed even by concerns.

Dear Thyagarajan,

A doctor cannot practise as a medical practitioner, even if he has got license from municipality, unless he gets registered with the statutoty body, the Medical Council of India.

There is a lot of difference between a doctor and a tutor. Further to it there is a lot of difference in a tutorial house and an institution. Privste tutorial can be opened by any person according to his qualification and expertise, as an aid to the community to enhance the knowledge of students, but cannot award any degree or diploma. On the other hand, if he intends to open an institution or a school, he has to take due approval from the appropriate educationalauthority.
