Dear Santosh,
A Sole-proprietary business can be registered with the O/o. Dist. Labour Office of the area under the State Shops 7 Commercial Establishment Act .Besides in some places Municipal Act provides for Registration of shops falling under specified trade which you can better enquire in the nearest Municipal office . Moreover, if you are taking up any trade for which specific regn. is required like Regn. with Sales Tax /VAT, Central Excise, Service tax , State Excise authorities etc. , then you have approach the said authority covering your prinicipal place of business.
