protection offered by IMPPA

(Querist) 02 December 2009 This query is : Resolved
hi,
i want to inquire if i have a concept(literary work) registered under IMPPA (Indian Motion Picture Producers Association)and not under the copy right act, will the said registration under IMPPA protect me legally from any infringment or any person stealing my concept as his own.
Also is it better if i have the same registered under both IMPPA and Copyright act before i start pitching my concept.

Dear Mr. Vathore,
I doubt whether the said copyright society has been given sanctity by and under the Copyright Act since as per the data available "Society for Copyright Regulation of Indian Producers for Film and Television (SCRIPT)" has been working in the concerned field and generally only one society is given authorisation to work over any specific area.
also, if you have copyrighted your work, then you are duly protected from any infringement and can initiate legal action.
Please check up whether the said society has copyrighted your concept or not. If yes, then you are duly protected and since you have assigned the said society, they can validly take action on your behalf.

I do agree with Manish.
