A proprietorship firm setup an office in Karnal/Haryana in 2007 and taken PF no. from the concerned office. He closed the office in 2008, but not till date informed to PF office and not submitted and return at all. No renewal of trade license at Karnal. He is also having office in Kolkata, a Propreitorship concern with the same name and style and is running from 2006. Now in Kolkata he need a PF no.
My question is:-
What is the procedure to continue the same number from Kolkata?
or
Whether that Old Haryana No. has to be transfered to Kolkata?
Or
Need a new number here and colse the old one. if so what is the procedure to close the same?

Sorry, I cannot answer.
But, it will be better to consult the concerned EPF office for the details and procedures.

I suggest, the kolkatta branch to apply for a new account.
Ask the old staff members, in Punjab, to transfer their PF account balance in to the new account opened by Kolkatta Branch.

Sorry Arunagiri has not suggested the proper procedural as per EPF & MP Act, 1952.
Section 17A of EPF & MP Act, 1952 deals with the given situation which is reproduced as under:
17A. Transfer of accounts
(1) Where an employee employed in an establishment to which this Act applies leaves his employment and obtains re-employment in another establishment to which this Act does not apply the amount of accumulations to the credit of such employee in the Fund or as the case may be in the provident fund of the establishment left by him shall be transferred within such time as may be specified by the Central Government in the behalf to the credit of his account in the provident fund of the establishment in which he is re-employed if the employee so desires and the rules in relation to that provident fund permit such transfer.
(2) Where an employee employed in an establishment to which this Act does not apply leaves his establishment and obtains re-employment in another establishment to which this Act applies the amount of accumulations to the credit of such employee in the provident fund of the establishment left by him may if the employee so desires and the rules in relation to such provident fund permit be transferred to the credit of his account in the Fund or as the case may be in the provident fund of the establishment in which he is re-employed.

Respected Raj Kumar Sir, it is all about EMPLOYER, not employee. Whether the Employer can transfer or change or can take a new PF account in Kolkata, as he already had one in Haryana? In Haryana, he has taken the a/c in 2007 and closed all work by 2008. Now in 2011 Dec he needs a PF a/c for his company. Now, whether he can apply for a new a/c, or he requires to transfer that old a/c, or what is the provision?

He can transfer his account by sending the nil returns for the intervening period. He is required to send Rs. 5/- per month against A/c no. 21 and Rs. 2/- per month against A/c no. 22 from the month of closure of the work till the resumption of work with the representation and prior intimation of transfer.
EPF department shall allot/change the new number of Bengal but it shall be in continuation of your early code no.

While obtaining code no. in Karnal, the employer has concealed the facts about his branch at Kolkata. He should inform now, get date of coverage preponed to 2006, deposit all uptodate dues and returns in respect of employees of both offices, apply for sub code no. at kolkata by giving all details.
