Psychological and emotional harassment at workplace

sir,
I AM A WOMAN AND AND WORKING IN AUTONOMOUS BODY IN NEW DELHI.I WAS SHOUTED BY DIRECTOR IN FRONT OF ALL STAFF MEMBERS. I FELT INSULTED AND GOT HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE.
PLS GUIDE ME WHAT SHOULD I DO AGAINST DIRECTOR. PLS GUIDE ME ABOUT MAAN HAANI.

Send a legal notice for Defamation to Director and claim heavy damages for the insult and mental harassment caused to you
and if legal notice fails then you can file
suit for defamation against him in the court of law.

Just do not jump. Give full facts your query is very much sketchy.


For filing defamation case for vindicating your stand in official capacity, as per CCS(COnduct) Rules (unless your employer has adopted a different set of rules, you will need permission of your appointing authority and in case you want to file criminal case against the Director for having committed the crime during official functions you will need permission u/s 197 CrPC from the authroity competet to dismiss him.

Likely you will not get and get more BP for fighting for the same.

You can file disciplinary complaint against him and the nature of complait and the appropriate forum will depend on the wording used in shouting.

The given instance is not a defamation rather this is part of official duty. In case the officer has crossed his limits, he should be pressurized to feel sorry and not to repeat similar treatment in future.

There may be many ways to do so except the process of court like agitation by employees union, making representation to higher officials, personally meet the officer and realize him his mistake etc.

What was the reason for shouting?

Such incidents happen in all workplaces. He must be shouting at others too. This can not be regarded as any kind of harassment.

Although Shouting is not good but there must a reason against such shouting Pl. avoid this reason and warned your director for unwarranted situation.

Thanks for your immediate reply. First, I must tell you the whole incident:
My office lunch break timing is 1p.m. to 1.30p.m. On 18-04-2012, after lunch break I went to washroom and came back at 1.40. When I entered in my office Director was shouting on peons and when he saw me he targetted me just for 10 minutes very loudly and insulted me in front of all staff members. I got check my BP and it was high. After that I got disturbed and wrote a complaint regarding this harassment to the President, and vice presidents of Governing Council, Admn. & Accts Officer after that incident. But inspite of taking any action, he issued me a letter to start Disciplinary action against me on this incident. Now I have to reply those baseless allegations till 18-05-2012.

Does he target you only intentionally or other's too? Before officially writing to the higher officials,you should have represented the matter with them in person,which would have had a different kind of impact.You should have atleast consulted some trusted colleagues before complaining.Now that you have to reply to the letter,mention the actual happennings,without directly or openly targetting the Director,which may have even more adverse impact.
