Publication of my name in advertisment of a coaching

Sir/Madam,

I secured 12th rank in Engineering Services Examination(ESE)-2014 conducted by UPSC. Yesterday I came to know about a coaching XYZ has published my name with rank( but with someone else's photo) in its advertisement material by falsely claimimng that I took assistance from that coaching. But I never had any communication or assistance from that coaching. Now, I want to know what legal recourse I can take so that he may not do such things in future and cheat other aspirants. And also, what time , effort and money such recourse may require from me and what maximum penalty/ punishment may be inflicted on that coaching.

issue legal notice to coaching institute to with draw said advertisments and issue necessary clarifications in this regard

These coaching institutes usually do such type of gimmicks to attract students for coaching from them. You can even claim for adequate compenstion for using your name in the Ad.

However, you have the need to weigh pros & cons appropriately and form some specific strategy before suing the institute, as they would have already devised a defence strategy when they have committed intentional crime in publishing your name. You have to discuss thoroughly about the course of action in person with some expert before it is too late.
