Hello,
My grandfather was a farmer and by inheritance my father has some agricultural land on his name.
I would like to purchase agricultural land in Gujarat, would I be able to? maybe on the basis that my dad can be classified as a farmer?
If I can, then how can I go about the purchase, do I need certain documents to show that I am a farmer at time of purchase? if so what documents are these?

While purchasing the farm land.. you need to produce the documents stating that you are a farmer. Contact the nearest sub registrar office with all the available documents.

Get a certificate from the competent authority that you are a farmer if you fulfill the conditions.

The local land laws govern the subject matter, therefore, consult a local lawyer, for any restrictions in sale/purchase of agriculture land in Gujrat.
Otherwise, you can purchase the land and there is no connection of self acquired property of your grandfather and your father as well as yourself are (or not) a farmer.
