Query regarding cooperative housing society

(Querist) 16 August 2011 This query is : Resolved
In our housing society few of society members plan functions like pooja ,dance competition ,dinner etc on 26th january and they compell everyone to give a fixed high amount as donation. When people object that they wont give so high amount and will give according to their will then they use money from building maintenance fund. And hence there is shortage of funds for building maintenance work. SO again they impose extra 3000 rs per flat to collect money for maintenance.
so my query is :-
1.) Is this legal on part of society commitee members ,secretary, treasurer etc to do this kind of imposing against other building members wish.

2.) Is there any law of maharashtra society act to prevent committee to misuse maintenance fund like this for social fund other than maintenance work.

3.) As a resident what action i can take against society to stop this.

Awaiting reply.
Thanks.

you can refuse to pay donation it is not binding upon you .
in AGm raise the issue that society funds should not be used for dinner etc .
let the issue be placed for voting . if majority of members decide that they should should have annual dinner etc then it would be binding upon all members .
if on other hands members feel society funds should not be used then you will not be obliged to pay
