Refuse to give shop after taking security money

On 20th sep 2015 i asked a man to give his shop on rent. He agreed on it next day and on 23rd me and dad gave him 50k without any paper work. I asked him to give me key on 24 oct but on 24th he said i will giv yu key after 14 nov.
Now i came to know he gave that shop to other person.
Now he rufuse me to give shop can i sue him.
If i can sue him then on what basis i can sue him.....?

Author, how can you give him money without proper agreement or at-least a receipt. however consult a local senior lawyer and file suit against the person.

It would be difficult to prove your claim in court in absence of proofs. You have to shed time and considerable cost with uncertainty of success.
Try to have amicable solution and get back your money. Shop has already been given to some other person.
