Dear Sir
I am staying in UAE and wife stays in India. A postman came with a registered letter in my name from a lawyer which she refused to take and sent to back. I would like to know whether any legal obligation if there for me in this case.

Hi, the summons to be served properly. If the addressee is not available it should be sent to the present address via indian consulate But it doesnt relieve you from the legal commitment of being away from the case but you can defendent it during the process.

As the notice/letter was from the office of a lawyer and not from court so you in general have no legal liability or loss but had you known the contens of the reurned back letter, you would definitely would have benefited.

not much to worry about but be careful as if it was legal notice then court notice will follow.
