registration of a contract document

We as the owner have executed a contract for a Turn Key engineering job with a reputed contractor. Is it necessary that the contract document be registered with the Registering authority? What is the consequence if we decide not to register the document? We would like to understand the legal provisions in this regard .

In my opinion, there is no legal compulsion for registration of contract documents please. However, views of other experts may also be awaited.
