registration of an astrologer

i am practicing under a senior lawyer as an apprentice,passed out this year from Calcutta University.i have a got a case.an astrologer who has just completed his studies of astrology wants to register himself as an astrologer.he wants to register himself under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act,1961.i dont have any idea about this matter plz help me.will it be valid to register under W.B.S.R.Act,1961? -Adv.Amrita Das.

Yes, he can register provided he has 7 members subscribing to the memorandum.

He cannot register 'himself'. Societies Registration Act requires a minimum of 7 members for an association or a society to be formed. Therefore, he has to pool another six persons and then form a society or an association and register.
Astrologers forming an association or a society seems strange. Enquire what purpose would be served by forming such an association or a society and then advise them. If it is for recognition of an individual in the eyes of society, he cannot register as an individual.

thank you Mr. Vishal and Mr. Rao for your suggestion.but there is a problem.can the person be registered under any Act or not?or a trade licence would be ok for his recognition as an astrologer in the society?plz reply.
