Hello,
I am a tenant in a Co. Op.Hsg Society, and facing issue with Society chairman not giving me Society letter certificate required for My passport police verification and also to get marriage certificate for my Sister who has recently got married.
Can some one please help me know if the Society Chairman has rights to refuse to issue me a society letter for no reason.
and also what are the action i can take in order to get the society letter to fulfill my requirements.

The chairman can not arbitrarily refuse to give such letter. Lodge complaint with Registrar of cooperative society.

Is the chairman of a residential society legally authorized to issue such letter to a non member / otherwise?
You should submit copy of your rent / lease agreement as residence proof.

1. A "Residence Certificate", for Passport purposes, can be given "only & only" to bonafide permanent Flat-Owners (& its Family members), in the Society.
2. A Tenant's status is a "guest", having no locus standi in the Society since after the Tenancy period the whereabouts of the Tenant is not maintainable.
