The Bar councils are a Law unto themselves! And the High Courts and the Supreme Court are slow to interfere.

The issue is not a personal matter.Three years back the amount was 1000/ then they enhanced to 5000/ thereafter State bar council raised to 35000/ now 50000/ to state and 2000/ to BCI. Under sec.49 of Advocates Act authorizes the BCI to levy fee.But State bar council has no such power except enrollment fee.(suject to correction) Similarly other fees also enhanced without any basis.Who is the proper authority to decide on fee?

I have verified from the Bar council of Kerala website the fee fixed for resumption is Rs.5000/- and not 5 Lakhs as asked by you.

Whether it is 5000/- 0r 50,000/- the issue is whether the bar Council of Kerala or other Bar Councils could be so arbitrary and demanding based on the arbitrary and demanding based the division of those who seek enrollment/resumption into classes.
I was enrolled during 2014 had to pay Rs.30000/- as enrollment fee.
Moreover, it is not a matter of money. See how, recently, the Bar Council, which is assigned the task of maintaining discipline among the Lawyers, ordered them to go on strike!

Mr.Reddy ,the site is not updated.the view of venu is correct .wef 26-5-15 the fee raised to 50000/ to state council and 2000/ to BCI.I have sent a fax complaint to BCI. No response. My question is with regard to the authority of State Bar council to fix fee for resumption. As per Advocates Act BCI has the power to levy fee but not state council(except enrollment).Kindly read the Advocates Act and Bar council of India rules and express your view
