scheduled caste by marriage

I live in West Bengal and married to a non- scheduled caste girl a few months ago. I am scheduled caste. Is my wife able to receive scheduled caste certificate? If yes, then how? Please tell me how to proceed and if possible provide me some documents of act or law so that I can fight.

Marriage by itself would not be enough to get a caste certificate. Still check the rules applicable to Bengal State.

Your wife cannot get Scheduled Caste certificate, just because she married you.

Supreme Court has held that a person does not change his or her caste by marriage. But kids can choose either dad's or mom's caste.

yes . i also read as 'Supreme Court / High Court has held that a person does not change his or her caste by marriage. But kids can choose either dad's or mom's caste.' but i also don't have the citation. Dear Dr. Rao,
