Tamil Nadu Govt had fixed maximum fees to be collected by the schools (cbse & state board). You may check with your local laws.

Principal secretary, education, Hasmukh Adhia said, "Any teacher who is not qualified will not be allowed to take classes. If we receive complaints, we will even cancel the recognition granted to such schools."
Schools have also been directed not to pressurise students to buy books or uniforms of a particular brand or agency. They have been banned from taking any kind of donation or capitation fees.
"We have noticed that the self financed schools have been charging hefty fees, which we will regulate from now on. Schools will be permitted to increase the fees, but it has to be in accordance with the school's expenditure," said Adhia.
The department has also set up a grievance redressal cell. Anybody can lodge a complaint against a school with the district education officer. The DEO will take a decision after hearing both parties and inform the Gujarat secondary and higher secondary education board. The board will then decide whether to impose a fine or de-recognise the school, said Adhia.

The news ietm presente by Rajkumar Sir states that there is restriction on charging high fees buth the school can raise the fees according to its expenditure.
But, there is no law which provides for the ceiling limit of fees chargeable by schools.

Every state has its own Acts determining the limits if any for maximum fees.
In WB , there is no such regulations for unaided schools.
