The mode of payment should not be an issue but do collect the fee receipt.

School has the discretion to accept fee by cash or through cheque, but canot be compelled to accept through cheque.

School may not be interested to get involved in litigations, if cheques are bounced.

So, you should be interested more in receipt for payment rather than the method of payment.

School may not be having effective accounting system to credit the directly deposited fee in the Bank account or by cheque to the account of the student. May be Bank not cooperating in the matter. If they are issuing the receipt, it should not be an issue. You may go on writing to the principal to provide facility to pay by cheque.

Why are you so serious to make payment through cheque?
Was there any dispute earlier ?
You should not about mode of payment as long as you get a receipt.
