Some in my family bought shares in my name in 1965.The value of those shares purchased for about Rs.1000/ has gone into lakhs.He has availed the dividends on shares for almost almost 30 years. Can I ask for those shares which are in my name.

Yes. You are the authorised person of those shares. Divindend might have credited to your bank a/c.

Not only divident but also the paid up capital value of those shares belongs to you legally but better you talk to that person and settle the matter amicably so that your relations may not become tense.

U have to check with the company whether that person has filed beneficial ownership under section 187C of The Companies Act,1956 with the company. In that case, though u are a registered share holder,u will loose the benefit of dividend.
