if your wife have any document to prove she has paid 10 lakh as a dnwry? You may return the jewels stating real thins before the court. Your advocate did not compel you to pay 10 lakhs. Only after if your wife proved her case and court directs you to return the amount, you have to return. Otherwise you are not pay her. Better you return the jewels before the court. Court will considering it.

Since I have not seen the earlier query, I prefer to answer.
First mention whether any case is filed against you or not?
Whether you return the articles or not, if your wife decides she can file case anyway but that does not mean you would be arrested.
In the event of filing of a case you can obtain bail.
In no circumstances you have to give her money especially when you have taken nothing.
Without wasting time do change your advocate. He does not seem to have expertise in family law.

You have asked a specific query and I confine myself thereto.
The opinion of your lawyer is accurate. You should not voluntarily offer to provide such huge amount. If any compromise reaches then any amount mutually can be settled and its way out may be searched but under the garb of criminal case or for the sake of deposit of such huge amount is dangerous for you.
You should also not make haste in giving back jewellery. Let the court intervene and direct you to deposit the specific jewellery. You deposit the same before the court and let it be become part of order sheet.

It is for her to prove the same.
If you have any jewellary of hers be ready to return the same.

"My lawyer tells that if I am not giving the 10 Lak I may be arrested. Is it? How to proceed for it?"
Any straight answer to your lawyers opinion may lead to further confusion.Either you have failed to grasp him or you have been miss advised.
There is no point to pay her undue demand as she can still put you in jail after receiving money.
So better let her file a case and if police lodge that then seek Anticipatory bail and contest it or compromise in court.
