My father died intestate leaving behind a property in Ahmedabad. I stay on its first floor, and my brother on the ground floor.

Deed of family settlement can be made . have it duly stamped and registered to avoid future problems

If your father is having other legal heirs, they are also shareholders in the property.

Yes registered deed of family settlement or partition suit followed by consent decree are the procedure.

You both can get legal right over the property left bu your father by the way of family settlement deed which requires stamp duty and compulsory registrtion.Alternatively you can also file partition suit in court.

I have already carried a deed of family settlement and duly stamped it.
1) where do i get it registered?
2) during registration how much stamp duty I have to pay
3) By registration you mean notarized or getting it registered at registrar of properties office?
