Stamp duty _trust

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 26 January 2012 This query is : Resolved
Hi, We run a Charitalbe trust in Mumbai, which is registered under 80-G. Someone is willing to doante a Land / Flat / Property to our trust for our regular activities like Meditation camp, Medical Camps, Counselling etc.
My Question - Do we, as a Charitable Trust, have to pay the stamp duty on the Gift Deed / Donation deed executed. Since it may just say token value of Rs.1/- for the property. If yes, then at what rate? Please guide.

You shall have to pay stamp duty over gift deed as per rates prevailing in the particular area of Mumbai. It shall be better to enquire this question from the office of relevant registrar as rate differ from area to area and location on front side or back side in the same city.
