Hello All,
I am having 6 sisters (5 elder &1 younger) and 1 elder brother. We own an ancestral property of 32 acres in total. All my sister are born before 1956 and married before 1977 (excluding 1 elder sister who is unmarried). After the death of my father in 1977, all lands were registered jointly to me and my elder brother. Now, my sisters are asking the share in it. Please let me know about the succession Act 1990 and amendment made in 2005 in my case. Please do remember that we are natives of Karnataka as I can see in other blogs that there are different law is implemented for different states. Help me to solve the issue.

According to amendment to Hindu Succession Act 2005 sons and daughters get equal share irrespective of marriage.

If the land was registered in the name of brothers by whom and how it was registered.
If it was merely a mutation please specify.
better consult a local lawyer and show him all the documents.

Did sisters give NOC for getting property mutated in the name of two brothers only, or relinquished their rights / shares in their favour in 1977 ??

Hello All,
Thanks for replying.
All my sisters signed the U form and the gave their consent for registering our name (i.e mine and my brother's) in the local panchayat.

was Land inherited by your father or he created by self-acquisition ?
What is the significance of U form - what does it convey and if it was duly registered to record relinquishment of sisters' rights in brothers' favour, out of love and affection ?
Local panchayat may be simply for land revenue purposes only.

Hello Surrender,
Thank for your precious time.
The village accountant sent a U form to my sisters by post and they had given their consent without objection to mutate our name in revenue register by love and affection. Some part of 32 acres land were in dispute(Karnataka land tribunal and civil court)by other people. Due to this, mutation was delayed and it took place in 1994. After the order above said courts.
