Taxation_of_monthly_state_allowance_to_dependent_of_ff, w.b.

(Querist) 16 July 2023 This query is : Resolved
My mother aged more than 80 years is receiving monthly state allowance from Govt. of West Bengal , as a widow of Freedom Fighter (under SSS pension scheme). She has no other income except interest and central freedom fighter pension (SSS pension scheme). Whether monthly state allowance from WEST BENGAL GOVT. is taxable or not. If tax rebate is applicable , then mention please "Under Section".

Who is a freedom fighter either your mother or father? Any income exceeds the tax payable income, such person shall pay the tax and no concession is there. However, consult a local CA or CS or post this in caclubindia.com.

The pension amount is not tax deductible but when it is put together with other income then if it crosses the threshold and becomes taxable along with other income clubbed together, then she may have to pay the income tax as applicable.

Incomplete and vague information.
Consult a local Chartered Accountant with relevant records.
